Happymami, a technology project from Jaén, selected for the seventh edition of the Minerva programme.
From watching, again and again, mothers with commitment lose breastfeeding. Not for lack of effort.
They lost it because there was no real answer when they needed one. Because they had to supplement. Because they went back to work. Because of a drop in weight. Because a bottle undid what they had built.
I have been with hundreds of women through pregnancy, birth and the weeks after.
What stays is a mother’s face when breastfeeding slips away. When she needs help and cannot find it. When what she gets is blame, confusion, and a bottle that does not work.
Not to add another bottle. To design a tool that truly stays with her. One that does not replace breastfeeding and does not put it at risk. One that follows each mother’s breast, as if it said:
With a team of midwives and engineers, in 2019 we set out to make the first bottle shaped to each mother’s breast and to how her baby actually sucks.
Breasts are not all the same. Babies do not all suck the same way. Stories do not all need the same thing.
For decades, one bottle was offered to every family.
We said: enough.

Every mother who comes to Happymami is looked after by a real midwife. The team is in practice, trained in breastfeeding, perinatal health and infant feeding.

Midwife in a public hospital
For more than a decade, Manuel Fernández has attended births, the weeks after birth, and breastfeeding as a midwife in a public hospital in Valencia.
He specialises in breastfeeding and infant feeding, sits on the breastfeeding committee of Health Department 16, and coordinates midwives who support mothers across Spain.
With more than 100,000 mothers supported, he is a reference when a bottle is needed in real practice. He has shared this approach, grounded in evidence and in respect for each story, at congresses across Spain.
He stands for a way of feeding that does not set one choice against another. That is why Happymami is more than a bottle. It comes from thousands of stories, listened to with care.

Midwife at Quirón Salud Valencia
With almost two decades as a nurse and midwife, Noelia has worked in reference hospitals such as La Fe. She now coordinates the birth unit at Quirónsalud Hospital in Valencia.
Her aim is clear: to stay with mothers and help them feel safe at a time that matters so much.
She is the mother of four. That experience, and her work with teams, shapes how Happymami stays with families.

Hospital midwife. Specialist in respectful birth and breastfeeding.
For more than a decade Noemi has supported families in hospitals such as La Fe in Valencia and, above all, Virgen de los Lirios Hospital in Alcoy. She has trained in the biomechanics of birth and in breastfeeding.
For her, evidence and close care belong together, and each family decides.
Her son Àlex was born early, and she lived mixed feeding. She breastfed for 15 months with Happymami. That experience is now in the team.
Our protocols, guides and products rest on:
Our own research with more than 1,680 mothers, presented at congresses including IHAN.
Study presented at the IHAN Spain Congress 2024.
From the start we have wanted to do the work with care and with real results. That is why organisations, media and professionals in the field recognise what we are building.
Each award and each partnership is another step.
