How we work: our editorial policy

At Happymami we write about pregnancy, breastfeeding, baby feeding and bottles. These are health topics, so we want you to know who is behind each text, how we review it and where the information comes from.

Who writes

Our blog articles and guides are prepared by the Happymami team of midwives, based on their day-to-day experience with families and on the available scientific evidence.

Who reviews

Before they are published, health articles are reviewed by Manuel Fernández, midwife and founder of Happymami, a specialist in breastfeeding and infant feeding. Every reviewed article carries the line “Reviewed by Manuel Fernández, midwife”.

How we update our content

We revise articles when official recommendations change, when new evidence appears or when we spot a mistake. Every reviewed article shows its review date.

If you see something that is wrong or out of date, write to us from the contact page and we will look into it.

Reference sources

  • World Health Organization (WHO).
  • Spanish Association of Paediatrics (AEP) and its Breastfeeding Committee.
  • Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) and its clinical protocols.
  • Clinical practice guidelines and the protocols of the Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFHI).

When an article gives a specific figure, it names the source in the text.

Our products

Happymami designs and sells bottles and baby feeding accessories. When an article talks about our products, we say so clearly.

Information, not medical advice

Our content is for information only and does not replace advice from your midwife, paediatrician or doctor.

  • If you have a question about breastfeeding or feeding your baby, you can ask Clara, our virtual midwife, at any time, or ask in the Happymami WhatsApp community.
  • In an emergency, or if a symptom worries you, contact your doctor or emergency services.
